PHNOM PENH:​ The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, thanked the international observers who came to observe the elections in Cambodia. Who will oversee the election in a country that was once famous for its war, and genocide to now become a democracy state? He made these remarks during a meeting with international election observers at the Peace Palace on Saturday morning, June 4.

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen recalled the history of Cambodia to the observers since 1979. Cambodia has been trying to recover from the communist Khmer Rouge era to a full democracy and from a country that used to receive blue berets peacekeepers from the United Nations to now become the country that sends blue berets peacekeepers along with the United Nations.

He stated that the Commune / Sangkat Council Election started in 2002, which transfers the power to the sub-national level to hold indirectly elected for the Provincial Council and the Senate.

The 11-member delegation, led by Chairman of the International Center for Democratic Party (CDI) Andrés Pastrana Arango, thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for inviting all delegates to observe the election and wished the election smooth, fair and non-violent altercations.

As of June 3, the NEC has recognized eight international observers and 20 special guests from foreign Embassies in Cambodia. while waiting on the decision of another 102 observers to be cleared with the NEC.
